How Long Is Breast Augmentation Recovery?

Recovery is one of the biggest concerns for patients considering breast augmentation. The exact timeline depends on your procedure, implant placement, health, occupation, and individual healing.

The First Few Days

Soreness, tightness, swelling, and bruising are common during early recovery. You may be asked to wear a surgical or support bra as the breasts heal.

Arrange for someone to take you home and assist you initially. Take only medication approved or prescribed by your doctor.

Returning to Work

Patients with desk-based jobs may return sooner than those whose work involves lifting or repeated arm movements. Your NDV MED team will advise you based on your procedure, occupation, and progress during follow-up.

Do not base your return only on how comfortable you feel. Internal tissues may still be healing after soreness improves.

Exercise and Normal Activities

Walking may be encouraged as directed, but strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, upper-body training, and contact sports must wait until your surgeon clears you.

Your implants may initially appear high, firm, or uneven. Swelling settles gradually, and the breasts need time to soften and assume a more natural position.

Recovery Is Part of Your Treatment

Your NDV MED team provides personalized aftercare and follow-up appointments. Contact the clinic promptly for unusual swelling, increasing pain, redness, fever, shortness of breath, or another concerning symptom.
